YU TING (TINA) TSAI

The original concept of the Satellite Residence was developed from three objects: wireless earbuds, a cheese model, and an electronic facial brush. There are details of the objects and the related material inspired by them in the Object Index.
The Share Program(Activity Booths) was generated from two objects: a paper airplane and wireless earbuds.
The Satellite Residence was later evolved into a complex of the house and the booths.

The residence conveys the idea of collectively sharing inspirations, and also a concept that unity makes completion.

The Site Map shows the location of the residence in the community. There are three satellites: the Bathroom satellite, the Greenhous satellite, and the Observation Satellite. They serve different functions with their own route and mission.

The first level floorplan illustrates the usage of the common areas and the four rooms/studios with a sense of flexibility. With the sliding doors, the rooms can be transformed into an open space in between the four rooms. The house is totally enclised when the staellites are docked back. The second level floorplan shows the connection of the Greenhouse sateliite from the common area on the first floor to the terrace on the second floor, while the space layout is deployed more opened up. The third floor is the most solitary palce in the house but also a connection to the “outer space” for observation and reflection.

The sections display the vertical connections through the openings. Section B illustrates the platformed terrain that can form an extended space in vetween the Bathroom satellite and the Mothership.
