This building is located on the street of textile in front of Tomioka station. It was originally the no.3 warehouse in the district with traditional wooden structure. The traditional brick roof is completely reserved. The rest is composed of wood and steel, creating a sense of collision between history and modernity.

On the premise of retaining the traditional roof, the façade of the building is joined with steel structure, the exterior walls of both shoter sides are changed to the entrance combining steel structure and huge glass windows. As to the interior part, to enhance the building’s earthquake resistance, lots of carbon fiber cables are used when transforming the interior space.

This diagram shows the building as a kit-of-parts including two traditional brick roofs, wooden supporing structure, metal panels, glass panes, curtain walls, steel columns, carbon fiber cables, bricks, corrugated metal and pipe system.

As to media stuff, the map explore the what effect can media stuff bring to information, relationship and perception.Even in ancient time, people use tools to collect information like sundial which can tell the time, and even some living creatures are used to deliver letters like pigeon, they are all media stuff. With the development of technology, more electronic devices and accessories are being used in daily life, they can not only help us in daily life, but also interfere with our perception, like auditory sense and visual sense, which bring virtual world to the real world.

The landscape stuff map explore the function and the relaiton to the perception. The origin, colour, material and even smell of landscape stuff are related to the perception. Based on the feeling, landscape stuff can be use in different function, some are used fore decoration, others can be used in daily life.

The common point is the perception media stuff can create virtual world which landscape stuff can create real natural interior system.

My design includes media stuff and landscape stuff assembled by leaning in a nested organization. The interior space are dividied into four parts and the boundary of nested space are consists of solid borders and invisible decorative borders. Four parts are designed for visual sense, auditory sense and touching. Those stuff for creating virtual world are hanging by leaned cables like speaker, projectores, while those stuff for creating interior natural system are nested by those cable walls.

The interior space is changed into an opening space with entrance in every sides. A leaning wooden raft is hanging by those carbon fiber cables, under it are real and fake stones with supporting cable walls, on the raft are speakers, plants and fake pigeons which are the icon of history. Speakers and walls with speakers image are just beside it to create natural songs and record the memory of voice. Next space is for visual sense, projector can create different natural scenery and real plants are putting around the screen, also a TV is stading on the trunk forming a seperate fake natural system.

In front of the building are two individual cable case with stones and speaker, which allows different natural sounds to attract diffenet living creatures nearby. From west to south are wooden raft with plants and fake pigeons on it, hanging speakers with image wall nested by cables, changeable scenery creating by the projectors and tv.

The main ideal of the interior design is the combination of virtual world and real world. Real media and landscape stuff are organized with fake decorations and visual images. Those cables walls are the connection of two walls and also divide the space into several parts, each part with auditory or visual sense can form an individual natural system.
