My room is where I spent most time at home, I do both working and living in this 13’2’’ x 11’7’’ space. When getting into the room, a wooden cabinet(5’8’’ X 1’11’) with a height of 8 feet is on the right hand, half a bookcase and half a wardrobe. The upper space of the cabinet is filled with my suitcases and lots of glove boxes. The bed is placed on the central axis of the room, opposite the bed  is a television (SHARP), and a plastic display cabinet for collecting dolls is also placed on the wooden TV cabinet. A wooden wavy table is placed in a corner of the room, making full use of the corner space. One side of the table is a wooden bookshelf, and the rest can be used flexibly. On the desk, there are laptop(APPLE),  music box (STARBUCKS), TELEPHONE (SIMONS), and other stuff. Also, an air purifier (BLUE AIR) is putting in the room to keep a nice environment.

This elevation is positioned from the center of the room facing North towards large windows, spanning 13’2’’ wide and six and 9’1’’ tall. The windows is the main part consisting of the wall, and along the wall, the wavy dest, book shelf, air purifier are put in the room. The curtain is controlled manually to control the light. The lower space are designed for different use, some are use for drawers and other are used for shelf, and the scale allow it for storage while not interfering the daily life. And also there are a lot of sculpture and posters for decoration.

My ANT map traces the actors of ergonomics and human sense. The idea comes from the shape of desk in my room, the wavy side of the desk allows me to take full use of the desk, I can reach every corner of the desk and also I can move my chair everywhere along the wavy side. Based on the feeling of using the desk, the ergonomic point in the room arouse my interest.

Though the ANT map, the reason why a design need consisting the point of ergonomics is clearly, it directly effect people’s feeling, take the wavy desk for example, its shape allows people to avoid collision, to separate into different function zone and to move chair wherever we want. The comfortable experience of using the furniture is what ergonomics brings to us.

As to the human sense, what we see, what we feel is the most common sense when staying in a certain room, and the color of furniture, the material, the position are all related.

Based on the analysis of my own room, the relation between ergonomics and design is also presented in the map.

This organizational diagram of my room highlights circulation, zones of living, zones of amusement, axes of symmetry, zones coverd by sun light and the most interesting part. The main circulation path travel through the door and around the bed. The sleeping zone demarcated by the bed sits within the larger bedroom area. The amusement area is consists of TV and display cabinet. The area coverd by the sun light is depeng on the position of window. The most interesting part is the wavy desk related to ergonomics.

This graphic composition is composed of six lines. The circulation line is wide with thin ellipse dashes spaced far apart. The living area is mainly honeycomb pattern with certain pattern hatched. The axis of symmetry is made of six oval shaped dashes. The rectangle filled by lines is the space for entertainment. The changing dash line shows the area coverd by sun light.

Vectors from the graphic composition are extruded to four heights - .5’, 1’, 2’, 4’, and 6’ - to create a series of blocks. The set of blocks grow from low to high from left to right, leaving the lower space to show the use for living. The dash lines standing for the wavy table are designed to be in different height to show the use of the table. The area covered by sun light use the leaned lines to show the light.

The sleeping area of the original room are marked by honeycomb element with the random height of every single piece. Dash lines standing for wavy desk are using different height to show the actual use. The area for entertainment is capped by four thick rectangular bars on top The rest of the oval shapes are spread throughout the space intersecting the walls or resting on the ground.

This view shows the lower space under the living area, which is in random height showing the freedom in this area. The contionous blocks of rectangle are leaned from one side to the order showing how the room is coverd by sun light.
