Our project focuses on access and hierarchy through paths, gateways, and steps. Albena Yaneva asserted “Designing in a particular way, following particular arrangements, tectonic patterns and materials constraints, we already opt for a specific type of political effects that our design can generate.” This is especially true for the elements we chose to include in our model. Paths, arches and stairs require a certain activity of their users. Staged moments during the composition expose this illusion of spatial power and barriers to access are shown through rendered shading, broken paths, and the juxtaposition of green space against urbanity through the arches.
