JIANAN CAI

Located on the outskirts of China's Zhejiang province, this building is an abandoned granary converted into an arts center. The walls are made of red brick. The building runs east to west, with the entrance being a glass gate to the west. The north side of the building is a corridor arch, the roof is pitched, and the interior is a fishbone structure. The old granary structure has a hyperboloid roof with a concrete arch ring against the brick slab roof, which brings dramatic structural effect to the granary. The two buildings are connected by a corridor to form a quiet gathering area in the middle, the main entrance.

The main exhibition hall has four entrances, and with the addition of connecting corridors, all moving lines lead to the middle, with the appropriate "human height" scale, people from both sides to the middle, and in the middle. The east and west sides, as the freight entrance, open the door, forming a "separation of people and goods". Formally, the corridor exists as a companion building, along with two granaries that converge to the center, forming the main entrance naturally. In terms of space processing, the height of the corridor is promoted layer by layer, forming a vacant quiet place in the center.

This diagram shows the building as a kit-of-parts including window frames, glass panels, internal structures, door frames, steel columns, ceiling light racks and LED bars, bricks, roofing materials and so on.

With the development technology, media are also constantly developing, from letters in the past to TV and computer, and VR at present. Media stuff includes 5 different medium. The propagation process has 8 factors. And the linear model is the classical model. It also call 5W model.(Who says what in which channel to whom with what effect)

The second category is home stuff.I collect the objects of decoration in home. Most homes have some decorations, such as decorative paintings, candlesticks, vases and so on.Designers combine psychology, art, culture and other disciplines to design them and then produce them and transport them to market.Customers buy them based on their own tastes, their home style, traditional culture. These decorations are great for creating a home atmosphereThen I divided them into two categories. One is functional decorations, such as floor lamps for lighting and crystal cups for drinking. The other is non-functional decoration, like the decorative drawing, just decorate. As for the disposal of waste, some of these decorations can be sold. For example, in many vintage stores, we can see some decorations, such as candlesticks.

My design includes media and home stuff assembled by leaned in a stepped organization. There are three large staircases, one for seating, one for display, and one for shelving in the second buiding. When a person entered the main entrance,he can see different the exhibits, home decorative stuff and learn the specific information of these objects from media Stuff,From a video on the screen, or a sound playing on a stereo. And then,he can choose to select goods in the second building.

Entering from the west entrance of the building is a large step, and people can lean on cushions and pillows to watch the video below. In the middle of the building are some small steps, leading people to different home exhibits or media presentations or experience devices. At the other end of the building, there is a grand staircase with household exhibits. To the west, this building is mainly used for display and guidance. Because the building is close to the lotus pond, the ground is made of lotus painting materials. In order to echo the lotus pond painting materials on the ground, the two steps of the building are made of translucent acrylic, which will appear light.Through the main entrance of the central corridor, one can enter the second building, which is similar to a sales area, filled with shelves, and a large central step filled with shelves.

The west building is the main exhibition hall, and the east building is the sales and storage area. Due to the unique structure of the two granaries -- the concrete arch ring support system, the granaries internal visual system is complete, and the arch ring order forms a complete on-site experience. And the old granary age is high, anything that does not belong to the original structure, will become its "burden". Therefore, we came to the conclusion that the west and east granaries should be two "pure Spaces", while the auxiliary functions needed by the art center should be solved externally. The outer corridor becomes a commercial and social space. As a supporting auxiliary space for the art center, the granary exhibition hall also provides the possibility to extend outwarding, thus protecting its internal main body.

Entering through the glass doors on the west side, a guide screen first guides people around the steps and into the great exhibition hall. Skylights in the exhibition hall provide soft natural light. Then there are the exhibits that lean against the steps and the walls on either side. Steps inside the building guide the view
