HANNAH DORIAN + TINA TSAI

We created a dining table scene inspired by the concepts of Wabi-sabi and Kintsugi, where imperfections and flaws are embraced and celebrated. To us, a domestic space implies a sense of security and comfort, where you can totally be yourself. However, this utopian notion of domesticity isn't a reality. On a daily basis within domestic life people encounter obstacles and conflicts, ranging from the mundane to the unbearable. In our story the mouse navigates through the table, causing mayhem and destruction. In the process it's creating a beautiful mess. Searching for the beauty within this chaos, and embracing these imperfection, impermanence and incompletion of these obstacles we can become stronger in the process. Ultimately ending up back at a sense of security and serenity, still with some remnants of the conflict which are now celebrated instead of hidden (Kintsugi).
