Our project explores porches, stoops, windows and walls as spaces of liminality, where echoes of intimate life register as faint silhouettes, muffled sounds, and emanating light. In this zone, transitions between inside and outside, public and private, labor and care, love and loss, tell the story of gendered spaces in Western society. These domestic scenes are constructed as layers of digital imagery over top physical models, in a manner that hides as much as it reveals. Inspiration and content is borrowed from artists we admire, such as Carrie Mae Weems and Chantal Akerman, who explore similar themes.
