ASHLEY YARBERRY

This is a one story building in Royal Oak, Michgian on Woodward Avenue. The walls are constructed with concrete blocks and include store front glacing on the front. The main entrance is located on the left side of the building.; an additonal door and garage are located in the back of the building.

The interior of this building is one big open space with the exception of a small storage space along the back wall. Trusses and mechanical run from front to back, while lighting spans from right to left. The buiding is made up of neutral colors with the addition of the turquoise awning and interior wall.

This diagram displays the various elements of this builidng including; trusses, lights, glacing frames, glacing, mechanical ductwork, and materials. This building is made up of concrete blocks, stone bricks, wood floors and standard drywall.

This ANT diagram explores landscape and plant stuff.

Landscape stuff investigates the realm of social landscapes, or landscapes that are man-made. These types of landscapes are very business oriented and usually hold a purpose other than a personal space. In relations to the buildings original purpose of a pet store, a dog park was looked at.

Plant stuff investigates the idea of all of the business possibilites surrounding plants. Weddings, country clubs, hospitals, public parks are just a few that might participate in the plant industry. In relations to my project I looked into the source, a plant nursery.

My design starts with this idea of inorganic “family” lifestyle. The large piles that circulate the room are phases in the growing process of a plant in a nursery. Supplies, starting up, planting, growing, fully grown, and selling. These phases of a plant nursery lifecycle are networked together with popular dog park elements; obstacle equipment, a bench, and a fenced sidewalk.

This plan shows the process of plant growth in further detail. Several materials are re-used during different stages of a plants growing period as it travels around the room. Materials start out by the entrance and travel through storage and back around to the front glacing for growth. This compares to the elements of a dog park that are interconnected around the map. As the plants progress so does our pets growth.

This parallax shows four of the five phases of plant growth and two of the elements of network. The moving piles in the front demonstrate all the work being put into the success of these plants while the full display of full grown plants are lined neatly in the background.

The perspective views show the experience inside the building. The items run along the walls leaving the middle open for sunroofs and open space. The space is transformed into a pavilion like green space for interaction and growth.
